We're wanting to build a 10' x 12' pergola and these plans look like what we're looking for. Would 4" x 4" posts still be suitable, or do we need to go to 6" x6" posts instead?

The 4x4 post are covered with trim, cut to length and width. The trim shown in these illustrations is 3/4" trim, 4 1/4" wide and 9' long. The top of the trim will need to be cut and notched to fit between the support beams.

I am almost finished building this, and so far very impressed with the design, it looks great. The one thing I am confused about, however, is the "trim (for 4x4 post, cut to size). What exactly is this?

Thanks for visiting this site and for your comment. I did not put in the spacing measurements for the crossbeams and slats. However, you can add as many crossbeams and slats as you like and just space them out evenly. For the brace please take a look at the picture for details.

I just purchased thish plan for $3. It's pretty cool, however its missing the spacing measurements for the crossbeams and slats. The images show that the crossbeams are right next to each 4x4 side but doesn't say what the spacing distance should be. It also does not state which side the 3' or the 3'5" brace goes on.

I also need plans for a 16 x 24 pergola. Would a design like this work if I wanted to cover it with translucent fiberglass panels?
